How is Wednesday Animated Emotes for Twitch good for?
Some Partners and Affiliates create their own emoticon, while others hire an artist. No matter who makes the emoticon, there are some important things to remember:
- Make sure the image is in a .gif format.
- There are three sizes per emoticon which are required for submission: 28px x 28px, 56px x 56px, and 112px x 112px. For example:
- When we launch, Partners will have 5 additional slots to add animated emotes as a benefit for Tier 1 subscribers! Creators will be able to upload these emotes from the Emotes page (like you do for emotes today). Here are the details you’ll need to create an animated emote:
- The image you upload should be sized as either a single GIF for auto-resize mode (between 112x112px and 4096x4096px) or 3 GIFs (28x28px, 56x56px, 112x112px) for manual mode (when auto-resize is turned off)
- GIF images must be square shape (e.g., same pixel height and width)
- 1MB file size max for auto-resize mode. If using manual mode, each of the file sizes cannot exceed 512KB
- Thumbnail for the animated emote will default to the first frame of the GIF. If you want to create a different thumbnail, this can be overridden with a custom static image (same requirements as emotes)
- GIF images cannot be more than 60 frames
