What are Star Flair for Twitch Badges?
Badge flair is a special flair overlaid over the top of a Tier 2 or Tier 3 subscriber’s subscription badge. Badge flair allows your viewers to stand out in chat and be recognized for their strong financial support towards your channel.
Managing your Twitch Badge Flair:
You can find the option to enable, customize or disable badge flair on your channel on your Loyalty Badges page of your Partner or Affiliate preferences, underneath the Manage Badges section.
To enable or disable badge flair, click the toggle at the top of the Badge Flair panel. We’ve provided a default badge flair for each tier for you to use, pictured below.
You may also upload your own, custom badge flair. Please keep in mind these requirements when creating a flair:
- You’ll need six images in total:
- Tier 2 Flair: 18 x 18px, 36 x 36px, and 72 x 72px.
- Tier 3 Flair: 18 x 18px, 36 x 36px, and 72 x 72px.
- Your flair must be uploaded in the PNG format, have a transparent background, and the file size cannot exceed 25kb.
- Your flair must comply with the Twitch Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and DMCA Guidelines.
Upload your Star Flair for Twitch Badges
To upload a custom badge flair:
- Click the Upload Custom Flair box.
- Under the Tier 2 and Tier 3 sections, click the + icon on each box to upload the appropriately sized file (from left to right, 18 x 18px, 36 x 36px and 72 x 72px).
- Preview your badge flair in the Flair Preview section. You can change which badge is shown with your flair in the preview by using the dropdown menu underneath Manage Badges.
- Click Save Changes.
In order for your badge flair to go live on the site, you’ll need to upload all of the required images under the Tier 2 and Tier 3 sections.
To delete your custom badge flair, click the Delete Custom Flair button.

BADGE FLAIR
- Can I disable badge flair on my channel?
- Yes. To enable/disable badge flair, navigate to the Loyalty Badges page on the Partner/Affiliate section of your dashboard and click the toggle next to Badge Flair.
- Will my viewers be able to disable their badge flair?
- Yes. Viewers will be able to disable their badge flair globally via their Chat Settings. For more information, please see our How to Subscribe help article.
- Will my viewers be informed that badge flair is offered on my channel?
- Yes. When on the subscription page, badge flair will be listed as a Tier 2/Tier 3 benefit for your channel.
- Can I upload a custom badge flair for my channel?
- Yes! You can upload a custom flair for your Tier 2 and Tier 3 subscribers. To do so, head over to your Loyalty Badges page on the Partner or Affiliate preferences section of your dashboard. Then, tick the Use Custom Flair box. For more information about the requirements for custom flair images or the upload process, please see the Managing Your Badge Flair section of this article.
- Do I need to upload a custom sub badge in order for my Tier 2 and Tier 3 subscribers to have access to badge flair?
- Yes. Badge flair cannot be used with the default sub badge.
- Can I put my flair beneath my sub badge instead of over the top?
- We only support badge flair overlaid on top of your sub badge, although you can design around it to make it appear as if it’s underneath.
MODERATION & SAFETY
- Will my subscriber badges be available for my subscribers immediately upon uploading?
- Yes. Unlike Emoticons, badges will only appear in your channel and therefore do not require manual approval before they appear to your audience.
- My subscriber badge disappeared and now I only see the default star. What happened?
- You should have received an email regarding the reason why your badge has been removed (check your spam filter). If you did not, simply file a ticket via help.twitch.tv to inquire (Partners, please be sure to log in to ensure your Partnership status is noted for expedited assistance). Remember that all badges must comply with the badge and emoticon guidelines. To resolve this, you may alter the badge so that it does not violate any of these rules, or submit a different badge altogether.
